BMW has created the M1 homage to celebrate the 30th anniversary . The design study debuted in Cernobbio , Italy held the 2008 Concorso D 'Eleganza Villa d'Este family. Production from 1978 to 1981 , the M1 was BMW's first and only mid-engined street car . The project was originally contracted to Lamborghini chassis development and assembly , but when the Italian company hit a financial rough patch BMW took over . A total of 456 M1S built.
The original car was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro , the concept itself is based on the BMW 1972 turbo penned by Paul Bracq . Many designs have been inspired by the BMW M1 and the overall proportion of veneration alive , including small kidney grille , hood vents and rear window blinds. Also present is the original hidden headlamps , but not pop units of M1 homage lights are suspended under the hood and the lights are visible when rolled up. BMW M1 money supply by a 3.5- liter six-cylinder , later modified and used in M5 and M6. No powertrain details of the money supply, M1 homage shared car was built as a design template.
